Galantis Midsommer 2025 - Live Visual Loops
A high-energy set of custom-built live visuals created for Galantis’ Midsommer event. Designed for massive LED walls, these loops combine bold motion design, and atmospheric colour setups tailored for festival-scale impact.

These visuals were created for Galantis’ 2025 Midsommer live show in New York, designed to capture the playful, bright energy of the summer festival season. The creative direction called for lush flowers, floating pills, and balloons, all recurring elements in Galantis’ visual world.

Later in the year, the same asset library was expanded and repurposed for a separate Halloween show. Existing models were adapted, recoloured, and rebuilt where required to deliver a darker, more thematic atmosphere while keeping the underlying visual language consistent with the summer set.

Concept & Direction
For the summer show, the objective was not to construct a narrative but to amplify joy and playfulness on stage. The flowers reflected Galantis’ affinity for summer blooms; the pills continued an established ADHD-themed motif; and the balloons formed a core part of the artist’s campaign visuals.

For the Halloween show, the art direction shifted toward moodier, more dramatic treatments. The original assets were adjusted to fit the seasonal brief, proving efficient for rapid turnaround while maintaining coherence across both productions.

Design & Technical Process
The flower and pill models were supplied. I prepared them using simple MoGraph setups and effectors inside Cinema 4D to achieve natural yet dynamic formations.

The balloons required more technical intervention: the supplied meshes were extremely dense and unsuitable for simulation. I rebuilt them as optimized low-poly versions and baked high-poly detail maps in Substance Painter. Once optimized, the balloons were animated using Cinema 4D soft-body dynamics to achieve realistic drift and float behaviour.

Lighting was built using a combination of sun light and area lights, with dedicated AOV light passes in Octane to allow flexible look adjustments across the longer loops without full re-renders.

All rendering was completed in Octane using adaptive sampling and denoising for faster, cleaner results. Post-processing was minimal, focused mainly on light-pass mixing to finalise variations for both the summer and Halloween outputs.
